Announcing Planar Shifts! This April, MBACC artists will be on view at Fort Point Arts Community run Gallery at Atlantic Wharf. This exhibit, organized by MBACC Curator in Residence Shana Dumont Garr, features work by 12 MBACC Resident Artists: : Hillary Babick, Terry Boutelle, Nicole de Lisle, Susan Denniston, Amos and Ronni Eisenberg, Angela Fiori, Remmi Franklin, Marilyn Mase, Elizabeth Slayton, Jo Soshnick, and Bryan Taylor.

Whether it is a sheet of paper, a canvas, or a table on which parts are sculpted, a plane is a place where creativity begins. Pictorial planes support, present, and participate in what artists make. The plane might fall away thanks to illusionistic shadows, or provoke viewers by sharing hints of how a work of art was made. In this exhibition featuring twelve artists, the collages, drawings, mosaics, paintings, prints, and sculptures each creatively refer to the pictorial plane. By composing parts into a new whole, such as in collages and mosaics, or thoughtfully disassembling unified images and ideas with creatively-cropped paintings, the art engages the potential for shifting perspectives.
